Vingt Regards Sur L’Enfant-Jésus VINGT REGARDS SUR L’ENFANT-JÉSUSReleased in October of 2020, VINGT REGARDS was presented by Josh Glasman as an anonymous manuscript sent to him in response to a vague post he had made months before. In this post, Glasman had allegedly stated that he was looking for work that would “disturb” him. In their e-mail to Glasman, the anonymous creator characterized the text as follows:While Vingt Regards is not disturbing in the conventional sense, it does harbour elements of confusion that function to blind and mislead the reader. It is the result of my ongoing engagement with a canvas of text that extends beyond the visible. In 2023, researchers from KLEPHT PRESS discovered that Glasman had lifted the text from the website of Ashley Benson, who had published the REGARDS during her tenure as a master’s student at the University of Michigan. Benson had published the manuscript, written by one Megan Wicks, through The Cryptid Press, a “student run initiative […] that [sought] to engender an interest in, and dedication to, knowledge traditions commonly considered outside scholarly purview.”The text is still available through CRYPTID EDITIONS, with the proceeds now being directed to the estate of Megan Wicks, who died in a car accident near Boise, Idaho in 2006.
